A two-hour drive from our resort is Algonquin Provincial Park, the very first provincial park in Ontario. During your visit, hike to the challenging Booth’s Rock Trail, where highlights include a breathtaking lookout, two lakes, and an abandoned railway on the 5.1-kilometre loop. Although the trail is fairly difficult, the view from the lookout will be worth the effort. It’s definitely one of the most stunning options of where to see fall colours in Ontario.
Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park
Only a few kilometres from the resort is Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, where an abundance of trails provide views of the Mattawa River and forests with vibrant red pine forests. The Etienne System and Kag Trails are the most challenging, with the steepest and longest climbs, but the Wabashkiki and Forestry Research Trails are much shorter and more manageable, with the longest being a two-kilometer loop.
